Our charity trustees have agreed on the following themes for our campaigns for our charity The Green Economics Institute Trust for its work in 2022. All these form part of our work on education for greening the economy and enhancing social and environmental justice.
- Sustainable Development as a concept and new insights into the idea of ‘development’ – challenges, histories, issues -The SDGs and progress towards them
- The crisis in world food. The issue of the switch to plant based food and the issues of global food production, transport, access and peace and the possibility of famine. A very real threat highlighted by the United Nations
- Indigenous ontology and epistemology in relation to environmental governance and policy -and other environmental governance and policy issues in their broadest sense.
- Inclusion and intersectionality- including our feminists in the climate movement project and summer school, with our partners in Europe and building on our successful official work at COP26 United Nations Climate Conference.
- Mental Health and post pandemic health issues and sustainability and the need for nature and natural environments to maintain health
- Human relationships to nature inputting to the United Nations IPBES scientific advisory conference in July in Bonn, Germany.
- Financial systems reformation -holistic finance decision making at the highest level- we are in putting to the United Nations on this.
- Supporting Ukraines human rights and safety – delivering humanitarian aid where it is needed.
- Climate change -inputing to 3 United Nations Conferences climate conferences this year in 2022 COP27 in Egypt in November 2022 and SB56 in June 2022.
- The displacement peoples is accelerating as we envisaged it would and we anticipate this will continue due to increasing tensions over climate displacement of all kinds -including drought crop failure famine and floods and intense climate heating or sea level rise making more and more areas of the world unsuitable for human habitation.
- Ending corruption in public life
- Enhancing democracy and inclusion in government and working with European partners on this important aspect of policy making
- Research into the above via our research groups.
- The aim of the institute is to offer alternative narratives to the slide to war or tension and to try to provide humanity with more peaceful and productive and positive solutions to contemporary challenges.
We welcome support of all kinds -financial donations and giving time and taking part in our fascinating campaigns.
